Surgery for Proliferative Retinal Diseases

Diabetic Retinopathy, PDR, and Vitreoretinopathy, PVR:

Managing the complications of diabetic retinopathy, both in the macula as well as the periphery has been a mainstay of our work for more than 1 decade.

We attempt with the use of minimally invasive surgery and the use of appropriate pharmacotherapy to provide the maximum degree of recovery to critical areas for vision. For patients requiring further assistance with the control of their diabetes a multidisciplinary approach is practiced. Success in diabetic retinopathy requires the imput of Ophthalmology but also of other services.

In average, two days of hospitalisation are required for this intervention.
