Laparoscopic Treatment of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is the cause of pelvic pain (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia) and infertility in more than 35% of women of reproductive age.

Endometriotic lesions can be found on the surface of the peritoneum (Fig 1),  in the ovaries ('chocolate cysts') (Fig 2):

Behind the peritoneum in the pouch of Douglas (rectovaginal endometriosis):

or in the vesicouterine space (bladder endometriosis):

All these lesions can be treated by laparoscopy using CO2 laser.  

Our two new OR1 operating theaters are fully equipped to perform these interventions.

More than 200 rectovaginal nodules and 50 bladder endometriotic nodules are treated annually in our department.
