The Dominican, Brussels

The Dominican, Brussels

A special location, a historic identity

The Dominican is Brussels' first design hotel and is the new destination of choice for those seeking elegance in the heart of the city. Located behind the La Monnaie theatre, off the Grand'Place, our Brussels design hotel offers stylish non-smoking rooms, a private courtyard and the bustling Grand Lounge, all of which combine to offer indulgent hospitality. The award-winning architects of FG Stijl have created an eclectic mix of design both inside and out presenting guests with an array of new styles and experiences.

The Dominican deluxe design hotel offers 150 non-smoking guest rooms. Relax in a choice of Deluxe, Executive or Loft rooms or in one of our exclusive suites.
With our modern, busy lifestyles it is more important than ever to unwind and indulge oneself from time to time. The Dominican recognises that surroundings are key to relaxation and with this in mind, its rooms and suites have all been designed around a peaceful inner courtyard.

History
The high ceilings and cloisters incorporated into the design of the hotel are reminiscent of the Dominican Abbey which stood here back in the 15th century.

The site was also home to the renowned French painter Jacques-Louis David. After his death in Brussels in 1825, the house he lived in was named after him and it was here that he completed his last great masterpiece, Mars Disarmed by Venus and the Three Graces. The original façade of the house has remained intact and been incorporated into the design of The Dominican.
