BRUSSELS: Kuwaiti Minister of Health Dr Hilal Musaed Al-Sayer began yesterday a two-day visit aimed at boosting cooperation in the health care sector between Kuwait and Belgium. Al-Sayer accompanied by Dr Mohammad Al-Meshaan, head of overseas treatment of the Ministry of Health of Kuwait, and Faisal Al-Dossary director for public relations of the ministry, paid a visit yesterday to the Chirec hospital in Brussels where some Kuwaiti patients come for treatment.

The Kuwaiti delegation was warmly welcomed by the director and managers of the hospital. Al-Sayer is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the State of Kuwait and Healthcare Belgium. Herwig Fleerackers, general manager of Healthcare Belgium, said that the aim of the MoU is to intensify collaboration in sharing expertise, and in bringing most advanced knowledge to the Kuwaiti health environment.

There is also a great opportunity for working together in tele-radiology between the two sides, he noted.

Healthcare Belgium and some of its hospitals have already concluded agreement with some private Kuwaiti hospitals mainly in the field of radiology and teleradiology and for sending visiting doctors to go and operate patients in Kuwait.

Today we see that a lot of patients are going to Germany the UK but Belgium ranks number one in the healthcare system in the world. Belgium offers not only the best quality but also good prices," he said. The Kuwaiti health minister is expected to visit some other hospitals in Belgium during the course of his stay here. --- KUNA
