Stereotactic Radiotherapy

In stereotactic radiotherapy a very high radiation dose delivered very precisely on a target localized in the brain in such a way that all radiation is focused on the lesion and not on the surrounding (healthy) brain tissue. This kind of treatment can be applied for inoperable arteriovenous malformations of the brain that have eventually been partially embolized; (in)operable metastasis or other small malignant tumours or benign tumours of the skull base such as acoustic neuromas or meningiomas.

We use a LINAC installation with the BRAINLAB radiosurgery module and multi-microleaf collimator. This allows a very homogeneous radiation delivery as the contours of the lesions are perfectly overlapped by the shape of the radiation beam.

The treatment can be carried out as an outpatient procedure.
